I'll kick things off in our new winter thread with this new promotion image featuring Woody Bear with a pirate outfit:
This is the first time this style Woody has been seen publicly - and you may remember than when the farmyard area opened, we gained a "farmer" Woody. So could we see a nicely completed Pirate area for 2023?
2023 leaflet . Doesn't say what the new look things are for new visitors or even Joe public !
I received a generic email from PWH the other day, it didn't mention anything new, although it did say again about "other exciting changes around the park" - something they've also spoke about on Facebook. I'm intrigued to find out what this will involve.
I'm also surprised that if the circus is confirmed as returning this year, then why haven't they spoke about it? Maybe if its just returning for summer again then they won't talk about it so early in the year in case it puts people off visiting until summer...
Somewhat misleading as they are not actually new...just rethemed. That advert suggests 2 new attractions
Sorry if this has been touched on elsewhere, but there's a newish Looping Group video which reveals all their park's yearly visitor figures. In terms of the amusement parks, Pleasurewood Hills is second last with 180,000, only in front of Cobac Parc which gets 100,000. Drayton Manor gets 920,000, so huge jump and unfortauntely explains the under-investment in the hills. Quite an interesting watch; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L_wYWXixH8
Do we know if any of the other looping parks will be receiving new rides this year or is it all focused on DM?
Love this artwork! Although a noticeably absent coaster. There are a few missing rides though.
Another fresh wave of the same comments I see..
well it was no surprise but I must admit the artwork looks great!
I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing the park this year. So far we know of 4 areas of the park that have been spruced up for this year; 2 rethemed rides, Moby Dick and the parrot show.
Along with the parrot show, I would now expect Woody's Emporium to also have a new look and to feature the new logo we saw the other year. This will be a huge improvement for the "first impression" when entering the park, as both buildings looked poor recently, with faded paint and old signs.
These 4 changes, plus recent updates to; Main St, Funky Flyers, both trains, pirate food kiosks, Log Flume, park entrance and the farm yard area - the park is going to be hardly recognisable to someone who hasn't been for a few years.
Here is what Cameron is referring to:
The big top circus will be returning in the summer along with a number of special events taking place over the year.
Very nice looking repaint of the parrot show building!
Drayton Manor have introduced a range of new season passes, and the top tier pass includes entry into West Midland Safari Park!
Purely because of the distance between the parks I don't necessarily expect them to ever include PWH, but it would be nice to maybe offer like a 50% discount on PWH tickets, if only to help spread the word about the parks existence in that neck of the woods.
Second clue is very similar to the first
I'm actually quite excited to see what they come up with regarding the Ponies (if it really is that). Tracked rides have the potential to be really special with the right creative minds behind it, and for the first time in like ever, PWH does have some really creative people working at the park.
Since creating the farmyard area, I've always thought the Ponies need to be moved into that area, but I guess a change of theme is the better option here - but what will they change it to? I don't imagine the carriages will change, but the image (so far) gives off the vibe of like a rodeo in the wild west.
I wonder if the new theme will be tied into the Safari in creating another new themed area? Whatever the new theme will be, IMO it needs to steer away from standard ponies/horses, as that's too Farm related
I can't believe it's taken like 40 years, but we really are starting to see the "theme" put into the theme park!
Very difficult not to agree. Their social media posts create more misery than good.
I personally think my Ponies guess before is going to be spot on!
As much as I would have liked the news to be a genuinely new ride, the Safari was definitely well overdue a revamp.
Given the amount of effort they have put into the artwork, I'm optimistic about how the ride will look now.
The park have teased another announcement soon too.
Interestingly it seems there *might* be more than one ride getting a revamp for 2023:
I remember they did post about Mony Dick getting spruced up, so it may be that.
